Is YouTube helping or hurting its young viewers?

I recently came across an article highlighting the Top 10 Highest Paid YouTube Stars of 2018 . I was first expecting the top earner to be maybe around $1 million, maybe even $1.5 million. You can imagine my surprise when I realized the top earner was actually a 7 year old boy named Ryan who was bringing in a whopping $22 million a year by doing toy reviews. Youtube has become a great platform for young entrepreneurs to create and publish their own content. However, has it made it too easy? Many popular YouTubers focus their content around providing a service such DIY videos, product reviews, and quick How Tos. Others simply just vlog their daily activities. The sense of instant monetary gratification by just pressing record may actually have a negative effect on young consumers.
