The Real Black Box Fallacy: The Amazon Fire Stick
So I finally went and purchased as Amazon Fire Stick after friends and family have spent months trying to get me to buy one. Boy, was I missing out. This thing has everything, Netflix, Hulu, YouTube. With all of the downloadable apps and services, you really don't even need cable. The fact that it only operates off of wifi is also very convenient. The black box fallacy is one that basically says in the future all our sources of media will come from one little black box. I'm pretty sure the time has come, because the Amazon Fire Stick is pretty much that. The real question here is, although it is convenient to have all of our media in one place that isn't just a cell phone or tablet, what does this mean for cable companies. The Fire Stick partners with streaming platforms like netflix and hulu, creating a digital network of connected sources, but where does that leave traditional cable?
